Adding Items to Your Menus
Now that you have a nice looking menu, you should to add some items to it, so that your audience will have something to view.
Movies
To add a movie select Movies from the Media Browser. You will get a list of all of your iMovie '08 projects and any movies that are in the Movie folder on your computer.
To add a movie to your iDVD project:
- Select the movie that you want to add to your project from the Media Browser.
- Select the desired size of the movie from the Preview section.
- Drag and drop it from the preview section onto the Menu Screen (just make sure you're not adding it to a drop zone).
- iDVD will then display a little box, called a button, with the name of the movie in it in the Menu Screen.

Chapter Markers
While you cannot create custom chapter makers in either iMovie or iDVD '08, you can create automatic chapter markers spaced every x number of minutes apart in iDVD (it's better than nothing, right?).
- Select the movie you want to create chapter markers for.
- From the menu bar select Advanced >> Create Chapter Markers for Movie.
- Choose the how many minutes apart you want to space each chapter and click OK.
- If it asks you if you want to import the chapter markers, click Yes.

iDVD will automatically create a submenu so that your audience can select either Play Movie or Scene Selection.
If you are importing a movie that you have already added chapter markers to (from iMovieHD for example), when you drag your movie into the main window, iDVD will ask you if you want to import your chapter markers. You generally will want to choose Yes.

Slideshows
To create a slideshow, select Photos from the Media Browser. A list of your iPhoto images will show up in the preview section. Hold down the Command key (⌘) and click on the images that you want to add to your slideshow and then drag them as a group onto the main window. Alternately you can drag an album over to create a slideshow of all of the photos in that album.
To edit a slideshow, double click on the button with name of the slideshow that you want to edit and a Slideshow Editing Screen will show up. From here you can:
- Add or remove images from your slideshow.
- Change the order of the images.
- Change the duration – how long each image will remain on the screen.
- Change the transitions.
- Add music to your slideshow.
When you are done editing your slideshow, click Return to go back to the menu screen.
Submenus
If you want to add a submenu to your DVD (for example, to add a bloopers reel), click on the PLUS icon on the bottom left and choose Add submenu. A submenu button will appear in the menu screen. Double-click on it and you will be taken to the submenu menu screen. Add items to it as you would the main menu screen (including Drop Zones).
